Today was tough. The winds coming from the north dropped the temperature down to 32 and they were blowing at about 30 mph. Luckily it would “only” be a crosswind for me for 30 miles and the remaining 70 would be mostly a tailwind. I fought through the first 30 and it wasn’t really as bad as I thought it would be. I had all the necessary gear to stay warm and at times I had to lean the bike into the wind but it didn’t slow me down like I thought it would.
When I hit my turn to go south I had nice tailwainds that pushed me all the way down to Rocksprings. I was able to eat at a restaurant “King Burger” and the lady that ran it had a strong interest in what I was doing as her daughter worked in the recovery field. She was really nice and gave me a hug and a milkshake on my way out the door. We were able to stay at the Sorrell inn – which was ran by a very nice elderly couple and the rooms were comfortable. I immediately crashed as my head hit the pillow. One more day until Kerville.
