I got a late start this morning. The weather was cold and I was waiting for it to warm up. I want over and had some Huevos Rancheros at Chills Grill and Sweets and set out at noon. I had been told it was a beautiful ride that was flat. The first statement was true – the second one is up for interpretation. I rode steady for about 3 hours after climbing hill after hill. I started to realize that a driver’s perception of flat is not at all the same as a cyclist.
As I started to pass through Hunt I began to pass sprawling ranches with decorative gates. I followed the Guadalupe River – my first natural water sighting since California! This part of the ride was incredibly scenic and I passed La Hacidenda – the treatment center I would be speaking at the following day. When I arrived to the accommodations arranged for me by La Hacienda I was pleasantly surprised. It was the nicest hotel in town and we enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner before calling it a night. In the past six days I had covered approximately 580 miles and I was completely drained.
