Today I went over to Louie's House, the place where I got sober. I hung out with the guys for the afternoon and told stories and caught up with what was going on in their lives. I had lived across the street from them for about 18 months before moving back home in Charleston and was close with many of the guys that were there.
That evening I presented a slideshow of my trip to the student at The Center for Addiction Recovery at Georgia Southern University. My Dad and sister surprised me by showing up! I caught up with some old friends and was able to meet some new students which was really cool. It was great to be back on campus and it made me a little sad to realize that this chapter of my life would shortly be closed. I was so grateful for the help I received as a student from Kristen Harper, Emily Eisenhart, and Jamie Samuels, who all worked hard at the Center for Addiction Recovery to make a safe place for me and other students in recovery on a college campus. I was proud to represent CAR on my journey and will never forget my awesome experiences there.
